Roll over and play dead.

28 Oct

Some times, things REALLY make me angry.  And I’m pretty upset right now.

If I hear one more time from another Christian “We’re living in the end times.  The Bible says this is going to happen.  There is nothing we can do about it even if we wanted to.”  I might hurt somebody.

I do agree… we ARE living in the end times.

I also agree…. the Bible says this is going to happen.

But… and this is a BIG but…. I DO NOT AGREE that there is nothing we can do about it.

The Bible does not say anywhere that I can find, when the end times are near, Christians should roll over and play dead.  What we do right now matters more than it EVER has!!

If we stop living by Biblical principles and don’t make Scripture the sole authority of our lives, we’re helping the world go to Hell in a hand basket.

Do you really get that?  No, we can’t stop the end times from coming.  But we can literally help Satan more rapidly deceive and win souls by passively turning the other cheek.

God made us to be WARRIORS!  We’re going to come back riding horses and carrying swords! He never intended us to be passive cowards.

If the world really is ending, and we stop speaking truth…. how many people left on the Earth have a chance of spending eternity in Heaven? Are we really going to give up?!

We don’t know the hour.  We don’t know how long the”end times” will go on.  We don’t know if prayer and petition will move the heart of God (like when King Hezekiah was ill and the prophet Isaiah came to tell him he was going to die, and King Hezekiah prayed, and the Lord told Isaiah He heard his prayer and he was going to heal him and add 15 years to his life. 2 Kings 20:1-6) to add more years until the end.

What we do know is that you and I have loved ones who aren’t saved.  We have an earth populated with the unsaved.  We have an enemy who is gaining momentum and worshippers in rapid speed.  And we have a job to do that we’re too afraid to do (because what we know as truth is NOT AT ALL POPULAR in the world today) so we’re saying “eh, it’s the end times, the Bible says this is going to happen, ah well.”

I’m not saying “there is nothing I can anyway.” Are you?

Practical Application –

Lay fear at the foot of the cross.  It doesn’t belong in the life of a believer.

With courage, keep witnessing and fighting for the gospel.

Rid my heart (with the help of the Holy Spirit) of a passive and unconcerned mindset.

Love people enough to tell them the truth, even if the rejection will be harsh and relentless. (And it DEFINITELY will.)

We were made to be courageous.  Anything less is a waste of the power of the Holy Spirit inside of us.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for posting this! The truth of God’s Word shouldn’t lead us to give up. It should inspire action! We should react to coming judgment with urgency, not indifference. I wish more Christians saw it this way.

Me too. I think the darn “fear of man” is sadly just plain paralyzing to the large majority of Christians, and so in fear, we become tolerant of sin and then tolerance turns into acceptance. And once we start living that way, the less we can actually save anyone because you can’t save someone by teaching them a faulty image of God and His Word.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!

That’s what my husband & I were talking about this weekend. We were discussing that one good thing that COULD come out of the things happening in our country right now is this: That the gap between Godly-Christian people, and nominal Christians/non-Christians will widen. So that the world will be able to clearly see the difference between a life with Christ, and a life without Him. If times get worse, and Christians stand strong for truth, then those who claim Christ but don’t live for Him may reach a point where they have to make a choice. Will they repent and TRULY stand for Christ, or will they turn away? Obviously I would want them to choose Christ, but either way–pushing that choice will make a clear line between being saved & lost. And that itself will clear up a lot of misconceptions about Christ & Christianity. Then we can clearly teach, and SHOW, that Salvation begins with repentance, and always leads to life-transformation.

oh yes! Great Points!!! I appreciate that view and also think there needs to be a wider gap between truly following Christ, and only speaking of following Christ.

AMEN!!!!! I do believe things will likely get worse. I do believe we are likely to suffer greatly in the future as a nation – as the wrath of God falls due to the sin we have been accumulating. BUT – I know that if we humble ourselves as God’s people and pray and REPENT and turn from OUR wicked ways – the God of heaven will turn and forgive us and heal our land.

I pray for the repentance of God’s people and our nation every day. The times are dark. But we have the light! If we are not cherishing sin in our hearts, God’s Spirit will fill us and He will use us to powerfully combat the evil and the enemy.

I am fully available and willing for God to use me. However He wants. His greatest glory is my deepest desire!

THank you for this post, Kayla!

I agree that we have the power to repent and that from scripture proves to move the heart of the Lord!

Thank you for sharing your words of wisdom and the desires you’re praying for! I hope we can all come together in this battle!

Kayla – that is another thing I pray for fervently – unity in our marriages, unity in our individual churches and unity in the worldwide church. That only comes by the Spirit of God – but unity is clearly God’s will for us!
