Everything is worship.

15 Oct

I won’t even begin this post with trying to “take credit” for this thought process.  About 3 years ago my husband was teaching me about how we live our lives, and he said “Everything we do is worship. It is either good worship or bad worship.  Worship of God Almighty, or worship or someone or something else.”

I pondered that for a while and really let it digest.  It seemed odd to think that EVERYTHING we do is worship.  Worship to me, until that moment, had always seemed like a choice or option, not an automatic condition of being a human.  We can’t escape being and behaving as we were created to live.  We are given free will to choose who and what we worship and even in what ways we prefer to worship, but, we can’t escape our design to worship.

The Bible says in Ephesians 2:10 “10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

We were all created to complete specific works. Fulfilling those specific works is our act of worship to the Creator who prepared them for us.  Anything less is using our design for worship on the world, which is in inhabited by Satan where he fulfills his evil purposes.

Where this gets heavy for us is when we realize we can believe in God without using our being to worship Him.

How do we know what type of worship we are living? Galatians 5:16-26 … go ahead, grab your Bible.  Let God speak to your heart today, not me.

Practical Application:

Take the time today to read that section of scripture and evaluate our worship.

Are we living good worship, through the power of the Spirit, in love with our Savior, and to complete the works we were created to do?

Or are we living in worship of someone or something else, which is submission to Satan’s purpose to blind us to the truth?
